now released in the uk. executive producer t-bone burnett describes singing siblings laura and lydia rogers as "close to pure as it gets", a quality that permeates their retro-country / americana debut. raised in alabama, learning harmonies in their church, the duo exude an easy, effortless southern charm on originals such as 'tennessee me' and some interesting covers like the sinatra classic 'something stupid' and hank williams' 'house of gold'. says burnett: "in the secret sisters, you can hear the history of rural american music from the 1920s and a reverence for every musical genre since." lead single, a cover of johnny cash's "wabash cannonball", was produced by white stripes' jack white.
