swedish troubadour returns two years after his critically lauded debut album (on bella union). 'mayday' shows all peter von poehl's virtues, his classically elegant sense of melody, his unique vocal touch, and his intensely personal way of mixing together words and sound. far beyond the stream of the singer / songwriters of today, von poehl's elaborate work is more reminiscent of sufjan stevens.
