the first 50 copies come signed by the band. after two long sold out 7" releases on the chess club mercurial merseyside four piece wave machines release their lexx mixed debut album 'wave if you're really there' on neapolitan records. it's a sublime pop album that gets better with each listen. the songs are inspired by the 80's, glow in the dark ghost calanders, cyndi lauper and asher roth's 'i love college' as the the first line sung on the album, "the day is wasted if you're not wasted" is a direct steal. the sound is totally radio friendly 80's and built on shimmering synths, falsetto vocals and a thundering bottom end. if you love hot chip, mgmt, xtc or golden silvers then this diamond of an album is a must own. standout tracks are the twice released single 'i go i go i go' which like a modern take on the belle stars, 'punk spirit' (which is isn't punk in any way shape or form) and 'the greatest escape we ever made' which is a supreme slice of shape-shifting white funk ghostly pop. one play and you'll be hooked - guaranteed.
