What are the chances of this being a sly dig at Noel Fielding and Pixie Geldof? (Absolutely none say the lawyers.) In actual fact it is the far from remarkable return from the Shoreditch party girls. A slow-building drum beat is accompanied by a nagging repetitive vocal refrain that really goes nowhere. It seems the duo’s label have little faith in the song, too, including a whopping six remixes on the single release. “Surely the suckers will like one of them,” they must be thinking.
Sadly all kinds of re-workings still fail to please. The Deathset, Chimera_Chimera, Mr Trick and Rezumaki all make such few differences in their mixes that it seems a waste of time. Only Midfield General’s intergalactic take on the track and Budda Cake’s gypsy punk-inspired cover merit inclusion here. If sex makes you stupid then Dee Plume and Sue Denim, aka Robots In Disguise, must have been locked in the Playboy mansion with Russell Brand and an industrial-sized vat of Viagra when formulating this effort.
