Nearly two years ago DiS got excited about the prospect of the follow-up to 'Figure 8', which was entitled 'From a Basement on the Hill'. We then discovered it was too dark for Dreamwerks to release. And then followed an 'incident' which led to Elliott's death.
In an update to SweetAdeline.net his official website, Elliott's father told fans the final studio release is currently in the final mixing stages, with tentative plans for a release in September and October on a label to be chosen by his family.
The 30+ songs were recorded at Smith's own studio, which his family has now decided to sell the equipment from (after unsuccesfully trying to keep the studio operational, as is), as a complete lot. It should be noted, however, that none of Smith's instruments will be sold.
DiScuss: What's the latest conspiracy theory about Elliott's death? Will his career forever be overshadowed like Tupac? Only the good die young? Has it even sunk in yet that he's gone?
