Reach For The '...Skies'! The Dawn Parade Return!
agibbons by Anthony Gibbons December 14th, 2003

DiS can exclusively reveal that The Dawn Parade are back together with a new line up and new songs.

Frontman Greg McDonald emailed DiS to say the new look Dawn Parade will play the Cambridge Boat Race on Saturday January 31st. McDonald told fans to expect "New songs like 'World On Fire' and 'Broke On Angel Street' but we’ll still be playing old tunes such as 'Wider Than The January Skies' and 'The Hole In My Heart'."

The new line up is rumored to include a new guitarist and bassist, a singing drummer, and two female backing singers. McDonald will play guitar, harmonica and keyboards.

The original Dawn Parade split in July of this year having played over 250 gigs in two years. Their 2002 single 'Hole In My Heart' was named 'Single Of The Year' by Rolling Stone's 'Well Hung At Dawn' column, and made John Peel's 'Festive Fifty'. In 2003, the band made their live debut on Radio One with a session from Maida Vale for the John Peel show. More recently 'Wider Than The January Skies' appeared on the new 'Love Music, Hate Racism' album 'Fear Of A Black Kennet', and was described as "Dewy eyed and beautiful" by the NME.

A new single is expected from the band in the New Year.
