On Thursday evening, at about 11pm, Rhode Island venue The Station caught fire as a result of pyrotechnics used in the first song of the band's set. The venue is said to have contained more than 300 people at the time of the accident.
97 people are said to have died as a result of the tragedy, and the band's guitarist Longley, 31, has now been confirmed as being amongst their number, having originally been declared missing.
Singer Jack Russell claims that the band had permission to use pyrotechnics in their show, despite claims from the owners of The Station and at least four other venues on the band's tour that pyros had been introduced into the performance without proper authorisation.
