This Saturday (February 9) sees the latest, and possibly final, chapter in DrownedinSound's Nottingham club night venture. After two long years the Nottingham DiS team has decided to take a temporary hiatus but as a parting gesture we're proud to announce possibly our best line-up yet.
Kicking off at 8pm, taking to the stage at the city's Junktion 7 venue we have...
Her Name Is Calla
"Musically you could say they are somewhere between the vast historical landscapes of iLiKETRAiNS and the organic simplicity of Shady Bard, yet all the time there is an overtly sinister edge that suggests something life-changing (or should that be ending?) is about to take control at any second" (DiS)
Exit Calm
"This can be summarised as neither shoegaze nor post-rock; this is music crafted by angels with the souls of devils trying to break free of the purgatory of modern life" (DiS)
Vessels (pictured)
"One of the most unique bands in the country today... both haunting and mesmerising in equal measures, Vessels are a frightening proposition who hold no fear as to the endless possibilities that await them" (DiS)
Mourning Becomes Electra
"Glistening guitars twinkle and tumble dreamily out of the speakers and then launch towards the heavens" (www.hearthefuture.org.uk)
As if that little lot wasn't mouth-watering enough, there will also be DJ sets across both floors of the venue from the likes of Nottingham shoegaze alchemists Mint Ive, the amazing Das Disko and, just confirmed, Leeds’ very own historical post-rockers iLiKETRAiNS. Sprinkled between will be sets by DiS DJs (myself and Jordan) and several other as-yet-to-be confirmed guests.
Advance tickets are available from Selectadisc or We Got Tickets.Com at £4 each.
There will also be a limited number on the door at £6 each (£5 with an NUS card).
Alternatively, if you add yourself to the Nottingham Drowned In Sound MySpace site there is a special cheap list available there, too.
See you all on Saturday!
