The is it a flag, is it a parental guidance logo, is it just a rip-off of the Rough Trade and Sub Pop logos, current DiS logo will disappear as of tomorrow (Friday 14th October 2005). But fear not, for the designs they may be a-changin’, but who we are and what we do for the music we love, will always be the same.
Tomorrow we’re taking the site offline for a few days whilst Matt transfers all the old database of some 13,000+ plus articles and a gazillion messageboard posts and band ratings and stuff, into the brand spanking new site. We’ve been dancing around like giddy kids for the past few weeks as Matthew Willson (aka web genius!) has made many of our ideas to make the site better a reality and we're now nearly ready to share it with you.
Whilst the changeover takes place we have to take the site offline but to make up for this, we’re presenting you with our best bits from the past 5 years, our lists of records of the past half-decade. We will also keep any breaking news in a blog and having a temporary messageboard. The change should be pretty swift and we hope to have found all the bugs and got most of the clever new features working and the new site online next week!
For now, shed your tears as we put the old site to bed beside bagpuss, whilst listening to Bright Eyes b-side ‘True Blue’ and humming some kind of Funeral song (but not FAFF!).
See you on the other side,
Sean Adams
Founder - Drowned in Sound.
P.S. Don’t forget we have our Pirate Party to launch the new site tomorrow @ the Barfly featuring DJ sets from Cooper Temple Clause, Hope of the States and live music from Special Guests and London's most fun live band Les Incompetents. Details HERE. £1 off if you come dressed a pirate!
