The Sun reports that Simon Cowell (pictured) is planning to produce a movie based on the format of X-Factor.
The film is said to feature two aspiring singers attempting to climb the ladder from obscurity to stardom. One of the pair will take part in a televised talent contest, a la the aforementioned and the precendent setting Pop Idol.
Cowell told the paper:
"I'm going to produce a film next year, not a million miles from Pop Idol or X Factor. It will feature two people trying to make a name for themselves in the industry and all the heartache that goes with it. One of the lead roles will be British, the other will be an international name.
"One of the main roles will be available for an ordinary person. We will hold auditions up and down the country to find a talented young actor or actress for the role."
It's not all good news in the X-Factor camp, though, reports The Mirror. Pam Edwards, who auditioned for the show alongside Fiona Griffiths, was admitted to a psychiatric unit with severe depression following Cowell's comparison of her to Vicky Pollard from Little Britain.
Edwards told the paper:
"I felt humiliated. Simon thought he was being funny, but he absolutely destroyed me. I don't know how he sleeps at night."
ON GIANT PILES OF £50 NOTES, we reckon.
