So the summer will soon be officially over and those long nights drinking warm cider, festival-hopping, avoiding the World Cup and flicking fleas off one's back will be a distant memory. Yep, it's back to school, work or college, with only Christmas to look forward to. Right? Wrong.
Having had a nice two-month break since July's awesome bout at The Social, we've been busy re-charging our batteries and putting together not just one but two line-ups for the start of the new term.
On Saturday 30th September, DiS will be making its debut at the newly-established Rose Of England where we're bringing you four of the best up-and-coming bands from our part of the world.
REDCARSGOFASTER are still Leicester's best kept secret nearly two years after we said THIS and THIS about them, but after a storming set at this year's Summer Sundae Festival and ace new single 'Micro/I Am The Storm' getting regular airplay on XFM and BBC6, big things surely await so catch 'em while you still can in a small venue.

LAST GANG meanwhile hail from Leeds, but sound like they could have been launched on London's Westway circa '78 via industrialised Coventry at the turn of the 80s. Recently signed to 48 Crash Records, their ska'ed pop punk comes with a licence to dance, dance, dance.

DIRTY TUX are the young pups of the bunch. Barely into double figures as far as live shows are concerned, they've already created a stir with their self-produced demo doing the rounds in the same way a certain Mercury Prize winning Sheffield quartet's offering was two years ago. DiS caught them with The Holloways recently (Read the review HERE) and was suitably impressed enough to offer them a slot on the bill.

QUARTERSHADE need no introduction to most people in these parts. Recent single 'Captain My Captain' was on the XFM unsigned playlist for weeks and their bombastic stadium-sized anthems - think Radiohead circa 'The Bends' wrestling with Bono's cowboy hat. Back to front - should provide an excuse for communal singing that doesn't require six pints of wife-beater or an Umbro-made nylon shirt to engage in.

As if that weren't enough, thanks to the guys from Hungry Audio Records, we're back two weeks later on Friday 13th October at Junktion 7 with a bill that will send reverberations around the city.
East Anglian quartet SENNEN have been on the edges of big-time success for a while now, and their debut long player Widows (Read review HERE) was one of the most underrated homegrown releases of last year.

Legendary experimental/noise/shoegazing/garage luminaries THE TELESCOPES are one of the few acts of the last two decades that have rightfully earned the title as being groundbreaking. Not only do none of their albums sound the same, but no two songs on any of their records sound alike either. Expect laptops, white noise, toy robots and electronic gadgetry aplenty.

Having served both Slowdive and Lowgold, Simon Scott is no stranger to making beautiful, desolate yet equally powerful music, and current project TELEVISE are no exception to the rule. Their music harks back to a time when melodies involved key changes, hummable choruses and guitar solos that were unrepeatable to the novice unless you had a Boss TR-2 tremolo in your possession. In other words, tuneful and timeless.

Finally, ex-Lyca Sleep frontman DAN CUTTS will be playing a rare acoustic set of new material. Are we excited? You bet...
