We hope you've found our further imput to the music scene and injection of enthusiasm to the music media useful over the course of 2003. We've had a lot of fun, almost too much fun putting things together this year. It has been great to watch the rise of bands we notably tipped last year like The Darkness (catch their xmas message at 3 on Christmas Day on mtv!), Funeral for a Friend and the likes of Bright Eyes rise to greater things.
2003 may not seem on the face of it as the greatest year for music, but as our Top 75 Albums of the Year show, there was an awful lot of amazing albums released. And as we're sure you're all aware, the live music scene this year has been booming, so many great tours (which didn't get cancelled because of the war) and memorable moments, most notably Cat Power climbing over five rows of pews at Union Chapel singing 'Fuck the Pain Away' as her band, complete with Violins, covered some Sabbath. And who can forget the naked madness of Har Mar Superstar. But then there are so many more memories that we could go on and on (please feel free to post your favourite live moment as a comment on this article).
Over the next few weeks we'll be reviewing some great records we forgot to review in 2003, collating more highlights of the year and predicting more bands for 2004! Plus we're currently putting together a guide to albums due next year complete with gossip and nerdy details...
Have a wonderful break and here's to 2004, the year the good gets going...
