She's So Rad - Cool It (for fans of Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine)
Leading up to the release of the band’s 2nd full-length album TANGO, She’s So Rad are releasing Cool It - an example of what can be expected from this sophomore record.
Cool It is a modern shoegaze number written by Anji Sami in the hopes of inspiring people to “not loose their sh*t” in times of stress. It draws on influences from Cocteau Twins and Slowdive with some searing lead guitar that may make you want to play Siamese Dream from beginning to end.
Cool It was produced by Jeremy Toy, recorded by Toy and Jol Mulholland at The Lab in Mt Eden, Auckland. The track was mixed by, Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck, Supergrass, Silversun Pickups) at his Los Angeles studio. Tony had worked with the band on Confetti (their single from 2 years ago) and was the bands first choice of engineer as “no one understands fuzzed out shoegaze as well as Tony Hoffer does,”.
Toy reveals that “Tony Hoffer was the no-brainer choice for mixing Cool It. He understands better than anyone the sonic palette and the ‘wall of sound teetering on the brink of meltdown’ treatment that we were looking for. I love sending Tony a track to mix ‘cause I know the result is gonna be far greater than I could ever imagine. He’s freakin’ incredible. A machine.”
The music video for Cool It was directed by, Dylan Pharazyn. Pharazyn is also responsible for much of the bands art artwork. He has created a video that reflects the intent of the song and also gives the viewer a hint of what is to come for the covert art of Tango.
Tango will be released through MUZAI Records in early 2015 on CD/Digital.
