this is really weird. today i was walking down moorgate (it is a street in london, ye non-londoners), when a convoy of police car + big goods lorry with sign attached to back saying 'caution - convoy' + then another police car went by, all sirens on the police cars going.

as it passed, it got slowed down by traffic and had to stop, and as it did the door of the last police car opened and a policeman leaned out with a fuck-off big machine gun, and just casually pointed it at the people standing on the pavement. then the traffic started moving again and he just went 'it's ok - don't worry' to everyone who'd just frozen, agog, on the pavement, closed the door and they drove off.

WHY did this happen? WHAT was in the lorry??? I am a bit bemused.
