This is a question primarily for anyone with a Myspace music site (although non-musicians might know the answer)

If someone posts a comment on your comments page saying they like your music, should you feel obliged to post a comment or message?

I sort of feel posting a comment on someone's page saying "Thank you for saying you like my music" pretty much amounts to pluggign your own music on other people's pages and I don't feel comfortable doing that.

Then I think maybe I ought to just email them a message instead which I do sometimes but I'm not entirely sure if that seems a touch laboured and unnecessary.

Is there an etiquette for this kind of thing? What should I do? Am I worrying about a non-existant dilemma?
