I seriously do believe we've a great chance of making the semi-finals, and from there one stroke of luck is all it could take to be in the final, possibly against a team like Holland, who on our day we can beat.

Providing we win our group, which could be sewn up today, we're likely to face Ecuador or Costa Rica, and not one of you can see those teams mounting a serious challenge, surely?

Then, quarters: could be Portugal, who would provide a test for sure, but if certain factors are in our favour - perhaps a Rooney return against the team that spoiled his Euros? - then we'll win through.

I am still seriously excited about our chances. If we get a good win today, I'm sure the general mood will be rather more positive...
