student loan questions.
{bear in mind this is scotland so it might be different from people in england}
this is what i've worked out from looking at this website: http://www.saas.gov.uk
basically, as a "young person with" parents on a low income who won't be living at home, i'll get the maximum loan which is £4300, of which £2455 a year will be a bursary {thank you scotland}.
so... is this what you're supposed to live off? everything? like... how can you do that? how do people actually manage to pay for their accomodation {which would be like at least £3000 per year on it's own} and food and books and EVERYTHING, on £4300 a year? and that's the MAXIMUM. this is me with a single parent with health problems who works part time and makes about 10k a year and who obviously cannot contribute anything at all towards my education much as she'd like to {and neither can the rest of my family}. am i missing something here? surely it should be more? or do most people generally get acommodation and shit paid for them by mummy and daddy? I AM CONFUSED AND SCARED. i mean i'll be getting a part time job too, but that still won't give me that much. it's just, like, how the hell are you supposed to live on your own for £4300 a year?
and please bear in mind that i know absolutely fuck all about this kind of thing so maybe you get even less, but don't flame me, just explain. thank you.
