i'm trying to teach myself french. i have a bbc 'teach yourself' style pack with cds and books and things, but its boring. REALLY boring. and i feel like i'm getting nowhere.

is there a fun way to learn new languages? why do people in other countries all seem to be multilingual yet english speakers don't bother learning other languages? should i just not bother and expect people in french speaking countries to understand what i'm saying?
