90s Camden
Just talking to my mate about Camden and music in general in the mid 1990s. He claims it was better but actually, I think it all sucked.
It was when The Good Mixer was apparently an 'AMAZING' pub because Blur once had a pint there (grrreat), and every club played Pulp, Blur, Oasis, Menswear and Dodgy. And maybe Smells Like Teen Spirit with some G'n'R. It was the height of shitty Brit Pop and because of the lack of internet, the NME and the chart fed even the alternative scene.
These days, it's all about underground unsigned bands, NY punk, post rock and alike. Much better. Better clubs, better knowledge of bands, more of a community ('cos of things like DiS).
so I reckon RIGHT NOW is the bestest time evah(!) for "alternative rawk". Don't you reckon?
