But isn't it annoying when good friends of yours have their birthday and don't tell you about it far enough in advance for you to do anything about it?

Then you see 'it's my birthday!' in their blog or whatever and the best you can do is add a comment saying 'happy birthday' - we have laughed together, we have cried together, we are being best man at each other's weddings, yet I do not know the date of your birthday, so all I can now offer is this humble piece of pixellated text.
