How much did this shit rock?

I had a hugely lucky childhood: I grew up with mum in shared short-lease condemned housing which meant mainly we lived with a bunch of guys.

So this in turn meant that my Scalextric collection was larger than most because those guys wanted to buy new stuff for it so they could play on it. It's still in the attic at mum's somewhere but I expect it's rusty and fuckered.

But it was good fun.

At uni we briefly bought a set from Argos and discovered they'd totally power-boosted the engines and it made it much harder to control. Still, unless you were drunk it was a bit rubbish without a figure of 8 track.
