how threads work
it seems every second tread on this site contains a post like "sorry, that was meant for [insert username]"
i feel the need to point out that this site is NOT an erratic piece of shit that randomly positions your posts.
when you click reply to a particular post, your reply is positioned underneath
(a) all posts prior to the one that you replied to
(b) previous replies to the post you yourself have replied to and
(c) this is more difficult to explain, but still makes sense in the context of the thread: all the replies to the posts explained as (b), and all replies subsequent (replies to posts (c), if you will).
its basically exactly the same way that the monarchy works. if the queen were to have a kid now, they wouldnt be 1st in line to the throne. similarly, if you get there late with a reply, dont get excited if your post isnt right next to the one that inspired it.
to see what any post is a reply to, just look at the left hand edge of the post and follow up the screen (admitedly sometimes not so easy, but always possible) until there is a post whose left edge is further to the left.
i'm fully aware that i look like an angry fool, but really, a lot of people don't seem to get it, and it peeves me a little.
anyway, be about your business.
love and snuggles,
