did anyone watch that balderdash & piffle thing last night? about 99s?

my flatmates were adamant and nearly lynched me when i disputed their argument that '99s' were called so because they cost 99p. i then called their newsagents/icecream man a rip off chiefing scheister. 99p? for a 99? i never used to pay more than 70p. Ridiculous stuff..........
