Well not exactly evil. I noticed this on my band's page:

"Musicians! You can win $10,000 if you get on this NOW -- we're running a contest where you have a chance to cover the song "Jamie Smiles" from the new movie Just Friends. The winner gets $10,000 and will be included on the DVD release! Click here to enter -- hurry though, you've got to get your mp3's in TODAY. Good luck!"

So that's a song I've never heard of from a film I've never heard of that they're expecting bands to be able to put together a cover of? Do you hear the ker-ching as thousands of bands download the iTunes version so they can hear it?

And given the short notice I wonder if there's already a band on MySPace who happen to be adept at covering this song and have a recording all ready. Sorry, that's a bit far on the conspiracy theory stakes. :-D
