eg, trying to get in to some hard plastic packaging by ripping at and bending it. takes forever and ever and you even start using substandard tools such as a butter knife or a nail clippers just cos they're closer at hand than the scissors you eventually go to the kitchen to use. would have been way quicker just to get the scissors in the first place.
