Ever done anything like this?

I just got back from a music and dance week at this former commune where my wife is from. Wasn't sure how good it was going to be but I loved it. Spent all week learning new types of music and teaching people stuff I know. Formed an appalachian string band and taught a group of people how to play the tunes. Also played double bass in a Big Band and electric guitar in funk band, both with big massive brass sections, and also did this thing called hat bands where everyone's name goes into a hat at the beginning of the week and you're drawn into random bands and you have to perform something at the end of the week party (along with all the other bands that are formed), we did a Nina Simone song. Also played some more bass in a ceilidh half way through the week.

There's another residential course I want to do which is focused purely on old time music, will do it next year.

What about you? Ever been on anything like that or know about any others that sound good?
