RIO 2016: DAY 1
Now that the opening ceremony is out of the way, we can start enjoying proper sport. Busy first day, with qualification rounds in many sports, and the first medals to be won in the men's team archery, men's cycle road race, women's fencing, judo, shooting, women's weightlifting and swimming.
British medal hopes will be provided by Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Adam Yates (cycling), Ashley McKenzie (judo), Hannah Miley and James Guy (swimming). Dutch superstar Ranomi 'Kromo' Kromowidjojo is likely to feature in the day's final gold medal race in the pool, the 4x100m freestyle relay, attempting to beat gold medal favourites Australia.
Coverage starts with tennis at 12 PM, and will finish with beach volleyball at 4 AM. Enjoy!
