There's a man who stands on a particular road on my commute waving traffic through every morning.

However, there's nothing too weird about this road. He stands at the mouth of another road and kind of indicates to you that there's nothing coming from the other direction so it's safe for you to follow the road around. HOWEVER, if I cycle down this road any later than about 8am, he's not there. He's never there on my way home either. Ever. He wears a hi-viz jacket. There are no roadworks or other obvious places for him to have come from.

WHY DOES HE DO THIS?

Maybe we can find him and get him to post an explanation? Or maybe tomorrow I should stop and ask him WHY.
