Bank Holiday Weekend Football Thread.
Not quite the weekend the Premier League was won as the press are making out, unless Spurs lose on Monday. Let's be honest, Leicester aren't good enough to win at Old Trafford. City will field a complete reserve side at Southampton, so advantage Arsenal and Big Red for 4th. Sunderland and Newcastle have a good chance of picking up wins, but no-one can be relegated yet.
In the Championship, Burnley and Brighton will hope to take advantage of Boro's slip at Birmingham last night. Sheff Weds and Cardiff have a shoot-out for the final play-off slot. A draw will save Wednesday a shit-or-bust final day at Wolves.
In League One, a draw or better in the lunchtime kick-off will see Whelan Athletic promoted. A win and a draw respectively sees Millwall and Bradford confirm play-off places. Barnsley could join them if results go their way. Blackpool and Doncaster could bow out.
League Two, and four clubs, all playing away from home, are in contention for the final two promotion slots. Wimbledon can clinch the last remaining play-off place by beating Stevenage.
Altrincham are all set to slip out of the Conference, but will join Stockport, FC United and possibly Salford City in the regionalised league next season.
Elsewhere, Bayern will clinch the Bundesliga title with a win over Gladbach. Dortmund/Wolfsburg and Leverkusen/Hertha worth a watch. El Big Three should all win to keep the La Liga title race going. Porto might roll over for Sporting Lisbon. Marseille flirt with relegation. The Eredividie title goes to the wire.
