I have pre-booked a ticket on the 19.15 service from London Paddington to Cardiff Central, but was not allowed to reserve a seat. Paddington is notorious for not announcing platforms until just before the train is actually due to depart, leading to hundreds of people fighting to get through the barriers and claim a seat.
