I got into work this morning and some people were taking abojt the budget.

One said about how Osborne had halved the debt. Another said how hopeful the budget was.

Then I said that he promised to clear the entire debt by 2015 but missed and now said 2020 and he's even missed his recent targets. And that disabled people are now paying the price.

The responses I got included "we give too much money to foreign countries who could look after themselves" // "lots of people aren't disabled and can work and we're paying for them." // "people who are too lazy to work cost us money and that's why there was a crash".

So basically total nonsense but the problem is these are nice, level headed people who don't know a great deal about politics so just hear what other people think or believe the papers who mostly are Tory supporting rags that peddle this same lie.

I tried to explain that the debt comes from private debt being made into public debt through a bailout. But no. It's not the banks, or terrible economic policy, it's disabled people to blame.

Literally if the Labojr party can't change this narrative, they're totally and utterly fucked. I'm not a labour supporter (though I do like Corbyn) but if people still believe this fucking tripe then Conservstives will be in government for generations.

I still hear older Tory voters talking abojt the Winte tif Discontent and the rubbish on the streets in the 70s. It's going to be the same again.
