had a bit of a set-to in Oxfam just now
maybe half an hour ago - so still fresh
anyway, popped in this morning for a quick look at the vinyl. there was a solid copy of songs in the key of life for £6.99. as I wasn't quite awake yet, I looked at it, admired it and went to put it back. thing is, it was in a really flimsy, ill fitting sleeve, so after about a minute I gave and just put it back...sans sleeve
bout an hour later I finally woke up and realised that this was WAY better than my copy, so gave them a buzz and asked them to put it back.
popped in and they pulled it out from under the counter - stickered at £14.99 now! the two folk at the desk were nice and all, but when I tried to reason with them they immediately said they'd get the manager.
she said it had been incorrectly priced and £14.99 was a fair price. asked her how she had come to this price - ebay, apparently. tried to explain that the value is determined by the press etc, but she was quite adamant that although knowing nothing about vinyl, that this was the median price.
finally suggested we meet half way - so a fee of a tenner was agreed and we all got on with our own lives.
picked up a sweet copy of rumours too for £6.
all in all, a good day for Oxfam and silky
bye bye
