I know a couple of people who, without fail, will always laugh at whatever someone says to them. Not like full-on laughter but like a slow chuckle; it doesn’t seem genuine but more like they’re using it as an acknowledgement that they have heard you, similar to “yes” or “uh-huh” I guess.
