(and where does the current government fit in?)

For left-wing I'm guessing Atlee from 1945-51 with the introduction of the NHS (or possibly Callaghan in which inequality in Britain was at its lowest). Right-wing was definitely under Thatcher, but which term was the most right-wing? Probably the last one with the poll tax abomination.

Do you think the current Tory administration is worse or not quite as bad as the Thatcher/Major years?
