Music Magpie
I'll be moving in a couple of months, and I think the time has come to get ride of my CD collection. I lugged it all with me on my last move (two Ikea Benno towers - probably about 400 CDs), and invariably, 90%+ have never been touched. In the desire for a simpler, more clutter free life, I think I should get rid. So, a couple of questions:
1. I haven't got any backed up. I did have a load on a old laptop but I never copied it over, and I'm pretty sure I can't be arsed to start ripping them now (plus I'd probably have to buy a separate hard drive etc. Bleurgh). Given the availability of Apple Music / Spotify etc, I'm not going to miss them though, am I?
2. How do I justify to myself getting rid of what's been something like 15 years collecting these fucking things (though I've probably not bought a new one in the past couple of years). If I think about I've paid for them, it's terrifying, but I accept I'll get barely anything if I flog them. But that's how it works. Depreciation, right?
3. Is Music Magpie good? Is it easy? Do I have to go get boxes to post them off?
4. Is there something else I can do for books, or is that even worse?
5. The other option is to ditch all the cases and just store the discs in a folder case. I did this with my DVDs already before the last move... and have barely ever looked at them. So that's a non-starter, right?
6. Should I just go on a flytipping spree?
