Room (including spoilers)
Thought I'd make a thread to discuss the film with spoilers and discuss it a bit.
Saw it yesterday, thought it was great. I didnt know anything about it apart from the basic premise and felt all the better for not knowing what happened. When Jack escapes an hour in, that scene is so perfectly weighted. THe tenseness of will he make it, getting a sense of his wonder at the world around him for the first time, the panic when he is discovered. So well done.
I liked as well how the film did open up an hour in, and you got to see Joy's struggle at being open and how it's not just pure relief. If I had one criticism, it'd be that I'd like to have seen more of William H Macy's character and how he struggles, as I don't think you see him when it comes out that he can't look at the child.
The performances are great. Maybe the best I've seen from a child actor
