thread for being optimistic about corbyn
'Membership jumped from 201,293 on 6 May last year, the day before the general election, to 388,407 on 10 January.
Membership rose to 407,000 when Tony Blair became leader in 1997 but soon after went into decline, as disillusionment set in among leftwingers, turning into mass desertions over Iraq. By 2010, membership stood at 185,000.'
if a 407k membership was more than enough for Tony to win in '97, 388k under corbyn suggests the labour party is already safe. i'm guessing the problem is many will be from seats that usually vote labour anyway (which isn't enough). so labour will do very well in those seats, but it's the number of seats you win that's important, not how well you do in them.
