Angus Scrimm RIP
What a shit start to a Monday. Find out that Bowie's died, followed minutes later by the news that Angus Scrimm died on Saturday night.
I've always been a massive fan of the Phantasm films in which Scrimm played the role of the Tall Man - an iconic figure in the horror world. If there's one good piece of news about this, it's that this year should finally see the release of Phantasm: Ravager, the 5th film in the series, and I'm guessing now, the last one. It would be hard to make another without Scrimm's presence.
As well as bringing a formidable menace to his best-known role, he always came across in interviews and DVD commentaries as a genuinely nice guy, the kind of person that never had a bad word to say about anyone and had praise for everyone involved in the process of bringing a film to the screen. I recently finished re-watching the original four movies in preparation for the release of the new one; it's such a pity that he won't be around to see it come out, but I'm happy that he was able to be a part of its creation.
Here's a video of his greatest moments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gy3z96Vyh_g
RIP Angus, you'll be missed...
