(Inspired by DD's new year's resolutions thread)

I quite fancy joining a choir. I have a reasonable voice and can read music, plus I'd quite like to take up something new next year.

Things that put me off:
- my knowledge of classical music is really limited;
- there's a Rock Choir local to me but it looks a bit naff tbh (maybe I'm just being snobby).

Any thoughts / advice?
