The highlight of the football calendar is upon us once again, for the 7th year in a row. As usual it will be an evening of gentle banter, glittering prizes and a surprise celebrity host.

As has become tradition, awards will be handed out in the following "official" categories:
1. Player of the Year: previous winners are Jim (2009), Edd (2010), Lee (2011), Jack (2012), James E (2013) and Owen (2014)
2. Goal of the Season: previous winners are Tom A (2009), Dan S (2010), John M (2011 and 2012), Jack (2013) and Loz (2014)
3. Best Newcomer: previous winners are James A (2010), Joe C (2011), Manchester Matt (2012), Dave (2013) and Chris H (2014)
4. Unsung Hero: previous winners are Jack (2011), Mark (2012), Loz (2013) and Matt D (2014)
5. Moaniest Bastard: previous winners are Dan O (2009, 2010 and 2012), Adam B (2011) and Dan S (2013 and 2014)
6. Golden Boot: previous winners are Bamos (2009), Dan O (2010, 2011 and 2013), Tunde (2011 and 2012) and Owen (2013 and 2014)

In addition, there will be an unlimited number of the usual "moody" awards, categories to be suggested at your peril, either in this thread, or in a PM if you want to keep it a surprise.

The voting forms will be sent out later today via email (if I have your details), or via PM (if I don't) or via text (if you're not on DiS at all). Feel free to contact me if you believe you are eligible to vote and you haven't received a voting form. The polls will close on Wednesday 16th December at midnight.

A full overview of the season with all relevant threads will be posted later today. The nominees for best newcomer will be revealed in a little while as well.

Note that we will be returning to the the upstairs room at the Blue Posts (our 2012 awards night venue). Feel free to claim the room if you are early, downstairs can be a bit cramped. The pub does decent, very affordable food for those who come straight from work and don't like their usual dinner of ready-salted crisps. There is also a stereo where you can plug in your phone or mp3 player for some entertainment during the breaks. The first award will be presented at 8:15 PM sharp.

The evening is open for all DiSers to attend, regardless if you have played/watched a game or not. See you there.
