The Queen
Next week (September 9th at 5.30pm-ish) The Queen become's Britain's longest-reigning Monarch, beating Queen Victoria's reign of 63 years and seven months. Pretty impressive, huh?
Regardless of people's opinions on the Monarchy (I'm not really convinced by its relevance and importance as an institution in the modern era), she as an individual has had a pretty amazing reign so far - dealing with a job she never really was expecting to get in a reasonable, ego-free manner, being a far more effective diplomat than most of the PMs that have served her, being a point of focus during national periods of commemoration and celebration, and not really putting a foot wrong.
I dunno. Thoughts?
