What ridiculous places have you visited specifically to fulfill a need because of an emotional attachment, passion, vague interest etc? And how far did you travel?

My cousin used to go and stand outside Gary Numan's house in the early 80s. Don't know how far she travelled.

I've ended up visiting places because I was near them (Cheers bar in Boston, Corrie set, Beatles Tour in Liverpool etc) but I don't think I've ever set out on a major journey as a pilgrim per se.

Bonus points available if you walked barefoot wearing sackcloth.
