I'd say Snow Leopard as it's the max my old MacBook can take. From my experiences from IOS I'd be reluctant to shift to the newer Mac OS's. At work, when I use Windows 7 I've still practically no idea where documents disappear to unless I stick them on my desktop, (okay I can find them but it's a faff).
