The opening 45 minutes or so are ace - the casting's bang on, the dynamic between the young actors is top notch, the premise is interesting, it feels like a classic film...then all of a sudden it gets proper Spielberg weepy, they're all on an upturned bus, then there's a bit of a rubbish alien thing and that's it. Coulda been another Goonies, man (maybe that's what they were going for, idk).
