One bedroom flat right on the edge of Oxford. It was a former council house that had been turned into four (!) flats. The door opened into the "bedroom", which was the former upstairs hallway with a single bed crammed into the corner. Also had the worst mattress I've ever seen - it visibly dipped about four inches into the middle.

It stank of fag ash and there were dirty hand prints all over the (magnolia, obviously) walls. I couldn't have the telly and the washing machine on at the same time without tripping the master circuit breaker.

£575 a month, four years ago.

Pretty, pretty tame. I'm sure you can all top that.
