College Football Postseason thread
yeah it's already been going on for a while but the big bowls and the #firsteverplayoff are all in the next few days so i thought i'd make a thread.
tonight: Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl: Ole Miss (9) vs. (6) TCU
TCU came in to the last week of the season ranked third in the country, won 55-3, then dropped to sixth. Would've been in the playoff but for the lack of a conference championship game. Both have very good defences (really looking forward to seeing Nkemdiche for Ole Miss, but Boykin is a far better QB than Wallace. Could see this not being not particularly close
Prediction: Ole Miss 21 - 38 TCU
Orange Bowl: Mississippi St. (7) vs. (12) Georgia Tech
could be a bit of a dull one TBH as Georgia Tech's ridiculously old time-y offence (336 yards rushing per game) takes on the cinderella story that got exposed by Alabama then Ole Miss. Still, they've had a great season, Dak Prescott comes across as a really nice guy despite his stupid name and I'd like to see them win a big playoff game so
prediction: Miss St. 24 - 20 Georgia Tech
1st January 2015 - what a day!
early games
Cotton Bowl: Michigan St. (8) vs. (5) Baylor
Outback Bowl: Auburn (19) vs. (18) Wisconsin
decide whether you like running or passing, then pick you Hors D'ouevre for the playoffs. also featuring Melvin Gordon
predictions:
Michigan State 45 - 42 Baylor
Auburn 28 - 38 Wisconsin
PLAYOFFS
Rose Bowl: Oregon (2) vs. Florida St. (3)
the two best quarterbacks in the country, two first QBs to get picked in the next draft, and previous two Heisman winners go head to head. Bar one very silly loss against Arizona, Oregon have performed consistently well. Mariota's been exceptional and practically mistake free. FSU have been the opposite. Jameis has been flaky, they've never looked a patch on the 2013 version, there are off-field problems as well. Yet, despite this, they are the only unbeaten team in the country and are 2 games away from back to back national championships. They're luck's surely going to run out here.
prediction: Oregon 31 - 28 Florida State
Sugar Bowl: Alabama (1) vs. (4) Ohio St.
if either of Ohio St.'s two first choice QBs were available, this would probably be the pick of the semi-finals. As it is, a guy who's started one game in is college career is taking on the biggest, best and most professional D-line in college. If Cardale Jones plays like Johnny Manziel (the 2012 version) tOSU have a chance. If not, this could be over by half time. Oh yeah Amari Cooper too
prediction: Alabama 35 - 17 Ohio State
