quick question regarding holiday pay
Hi.
I've just found out (nobody told us) that each month we have our holiday pay added to our regular pay. This has been happening for a bit now. I found out too that we're closed over christmas until the 7th of january. So I'm going to be having about two weeks off work with no pay. Apparently i'll be getting my money from before this system changed. but now it means that in the future I'm never going to be able to have ANY paid time off.
Thats not fair right? and I should make them change to the normal system that everyone else in the world does.
The reason they've changed to doing it this way is because it's 'less work' (apparently) and theoretically its fine; I get paid my 28 days holiday pay over a long period.
IRL though, when you're earning below a living wage and you spend all your money each month because you need to spend it all, you're unable to save this extra money to put towards the time you might need the pay because you're not in work.
Thats not on is it.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I might do a long post about it in the work facebook group and talk about workers rights
