Christmas present ettiquette imbroglio
iya
not spending christmas with my extended family. have three step siblings with two kids each. normally buy them presents around £10 and their parents normally get me something, again around £10.
one step sibling has said (in the kindest terms) not to bother getting her kids presents if i'm not there to give it
not sure whether to get presents for the other 4 kids though, or for the 4th step sibling who doesn't have kids.
at least one of the other step siblings has in previous years told me not to bother with presents for their kids if im not there to give them.
asked my "real" brother what his plans are and he says he's bought presents for all the kids literally to make the step siblings feel bad for his own amusement.
dunno what to do lol.
potentially worth mentioning that, while i'm perfectly financially comfortable, i earn less than half of what anyone else in the scenario does (aside from children), so whilst my brother can spend £50 on a joke, i'd rather not
