- anything by Shirley Hughes, or Janet and Allan Ahlberg (we're big fans of The Jolly Postman)

My least favourites:
- the Miffy books (though, to liven them up, you can sing them to the tune of My Old Man's A Dustman)
- Can't You Sleep, Little Bear? ("I'm afraid of the dark..." "WHAT DARK, YOU ANNOYING LITTLE SHIT?"
