It's all kicking off
on Greenock's Esplanade. Residents in one of the most sought after postcodes in the west of Scotland have KICKED RIGHT OFF after one of their number woke up one day, thought 'This waterfront doesn't look NEARLY enough like Tobermory/ Balamory, I'm painting it fluorescent yellow.
Neighbours and local busybodies kick off, complain to council/ town planners, and now the poor guy is being asked* to return the house to its natural sandstone, or paint it to a colour more in keeping with the rest of the 'local plan' *I say asked, as I'm not sure he's been TELT yet under threat of legal action, let me check.
Anyway, I quite like it- I took a wander down to see it a couple of weeks ago and he has really gone ot town on the detail- window frames oainted gold, gold leaf paint all over the iron railings and gates. Pure mint, innit. I mean, obviously it looks tacky as fuck and I might be a bit cross if I was adjacent to it, as for what it might do to my own house price/ ability to sell, but maybe everybody should get into the spirit of it and we could have a blue and a mint green and a rose one too?

here is the story. the owner is Italian and wanted it to reflect his Medi heritage. I think it's sweet. I hate town planners. http://www.inverclydenow.com/photostream/12943-council-will-make-yellow-house-decision
